Interview Q&A

Q: If a child under your care gets hurt, what do you do first?
A: stay calm and reassure them first. Wash my hands, then rinse the cut with clean water and gently wash around it with mild soap. Use a clean cloth to apply light pressure if it’s bleeding, pat it dry, and cover it with a clean bandage. Comfort the child and keep an eye on them, then call the parents to let them know what happened. If the bleeding won’t stop, the cut looks deep, or the child seems unwell get medical help right away and call emergency services if needed.
Q: How do you handle visitors or deliveries when the employer is away?
A: stay polite but don’t let them in. Explain that I have instructions not to allow visitors without approval, and ask for their name and contact details. Then immediately call my employer to confirm, and if I can’t reach them, follow your security protocol — which usually means keeping the gate closed until you get clear permission. Never let someone in just because they sound familiar or are pressuring you.
Q: Describe how you keep food safe in the kitchen.
A: store leftover cooked food like soup in the fridge, let it cool for no more than 2 hours, then transfer it to clean, airtight, shallow containers so it cools faster. Put it in the fridge and use it within 3 to 4 days, or freeze it for longer. Always reheat it until it’s steaming hot all the way through, and throw it out if it smells bad or looks off.
Q: How do you stay calm when work is stressful?
A: I go to the baby right away to make sure they are safe because their wellbeing is more urgent than the stove. Once the baby is secure, you can quickly turn off the stove, ventilate the room, and handle the burning food.
Q: What would you do if asked to do something you feel is wrong?
A: I would politely tell your employer I haven’t done it before and ask for instruction or supervision first.
Q: Tell clients a little about yourself.
A: I'm good at my job You won't regret employing me and I'm super great with kids
Q: Brief work history
A: I worked for a family in Kiambu but left due to health issues I'm healed now.
